This movie is very powerful like the first in the series, and if you indulge in violent scare with a touch of sadism, then this film is definitely for you.

This is the most disgusting film I’ve ever seen. It is more disgusting than Volume 3. I haven’t seen Volume 1. This film incorporates the most unfriendly violence I’ve ever seen on television.

What makes it so positively plain is that, unlike Volume 3, it isn’t about grossing you out. This movie is extreme because you peek the actors convincingly acting out situations such as: a woman is kicked and pissed on the ground with the tips of her fingers severed off and bleeding and being told to call herself a whore. Scenes comparable to the one above build up 3/4 of the movie.

Here’s the plot: a bunch of high school students torture a lonely boy to the point where we are talking about sado-masochistic homosexual and heterosexual rape; many of the characters being victimized are impartial caught in the evil site at the infamous time and that makes the torture they undergo even tougher to recognize. A guy is made to gaze while his girl-friend is raped and degraded in front of him by several men. The scenes last for hours. 3/4 of the movie is sadism that made the most violent scenes in Pulp Fiction a joke.

This movie compares to Caligula but is worse simply because at least in Caligula, you obtain bag a nice wreck. This is the most disgusting film I’ve ever seen. This movie was released in 1981 in Japan where it was mainstream. It simply boggles the mind. This film was only recently released on DVD in the US. I can’t imagine a movie of such sado-masochistic violence ever being released in theaters here.

It is a more violent film to ogle than anything from Hollywood or Europe. This is the most violent and disgusting film I’ve ever seen. That’s why I give it 5 stars.

It is valid to peek that Esther William’s films that did not form Volume 1 of her DVD collection are being given a general release with lots of extras rather than being attach on DVD-R into the Warner Archive. These six musicals are usually very light in location, involve exotic settings, and have plenty of opportunities for musical interludes besides Esther’s water ballets, which are gorgeous. The time of Esther William’s peak popularity was a time of upheaval for MGM, which is where these films were made. After the war, MGM began a downward spiral brought on largely by the competition of TV but also by MGM’s inabilities to conform to the public’s changing tastes. One dwelling where MGM continued to do well was in their musicals, at least until the tedious 1950′s, and Esther’s films were among their peak product in this department.

Thanks so great to TCM and Warner Home Video for producing the long overdue and noteworthy anticipated second volume of Esther Williams films.

I am thrilled that “THRILL OF A ROMANCE” (no pun intended) is included – my all-time favourite Esther film.

This lady has brought continuous joy and pleasure to millions of people with her warm, spicy personality and splendid swimming and athletic talents and the films all boast beautiful music scores and songs, and many other talented players.

The films were originally produced when Metro Goldwyn Mayer was at its zenith, providing the world with luscious family and general entertainment.

Much appreciation also to the previous Reviewer who has provided us with all the feast of information about the very worthy extras on the individual DVD pressings.

WELL DONE!

The Doris Day Collection, Vol. 2 is available for streaming or downloading.

Click Here to Stream or Download The Doris Day Collection, Vol. 2

Two years ago Warners released “The Doris Day Collection” which speedily became a best seller. It contained some choice Day films from the 50′s and 60′s and reacquainted a lot of people with the wide-ranging talents that Doris Day possesses. There was a reason she reigned as the top box-office female star in history, a title she holds to this day. Volume 2 contains 6 more reasons why Doris Day smooth has that new ability to obtain audiences feel warm, thunder, satisfied, and very tickled.

Included in this collection is Day’s conceal debut, 1948′s “Romance on the High Seas”. It’s a aesthetic technicolor treat – a throwback to an era when movies were designed to entertain and it succeeds gloriously. Miss Day introduces the classic song, “It’s Magic” and while not first-billed, steals the exhibit from Jack Carson (the first of three successive teamings), Janis Paige, S.Z. Sakall and a broad cast. It’s a case of inaccurate identity, but what is most memorable is the ease with which Miss Day seems to acquit herself on film. She’s a natural – humorous, loyal, and fine. There’s a bit of the tedious Betty Hutton in her performance but ultimately she proves herself to be one of a kind.

Buy,Download, Or Stream The Doris Day Collection, Vol. 2! Click Here

The rest of the titles each have their high points. “My Dream is Yours” has lots of grit in this variation of “A Star is Born” with Day’s star rising and for agreeable reason. My popular song is her heartfelt rendition of “I’ll String Along With You” – flawless. Other highlights include a sequence in which she and Carson team with Bugs Bunny.

“I’ll Contemplate You in My Dreams” is the extraordinary bio of lyricist Gus Kahn and contains a trunkload of classic tunes sung perfectly by Day, co-star Danny Thomas and Patrice Wymore in a knockout performance. It has grand more grit than the typical biography and Miss Day is exceptionally estimable as Kahn’s wife Grace. Michael Curtiz has directed the film in dusky and white which seems to execute it more serious than many films of this mileau.

“On Moonlight Bay” (1951) and it’s sequel 1953′s “By the Light of the Silvery Moon” are like a couple of Currier and Ives pictures brought to life. Warm-hearted and filled with a net of big tunes, they lovingly occupy an era that might have been or at least was in memory. Miss Day, co-star Gordon MacRae and “family” – Leon Ames, Rosemary DeCamp, Billy Gray and Mary Wickes, seem like a family. Loosely based on Tarkington’s “Penrod” tales, it had critics carping that it wasn’t “Meet Me In St. Louis” and it isn’t. On its have terms it is honest as palatable filled with charm and great warmth, never forced and never trite.

The weakest link in the collection is probably “Lucky Me”, the first technicolor musical and subject to vital pans at the time of its release.

Buy,Download, Or Stream The Doris Day Collection, Vol. 2! Click Here

Miss Day and a elegant supporting cast including Bob Cummings, Nancy Walker, Phil Silvers, Eddie Foy Jr and Martha Hyer, give it their all. The songs may not be memorable but they are energetically rendered and there are enough chuckles sprinkled throughout to retain the film going.

One will near away from this 12 hour marathon of Doris Day films feeling extremely splendid, exhilirated in fact, and possibly wishing that Hollywood serene made the kind of feel-good movie that Doris specialized in during her 7 years at Warners. Feeling that procedure in this day and age is something not to be scoffed at. If someone could bottle that indefinable quality that Doris Day possesses and allotment it with the world, we’d all assist.

THE DORIS DAY COLLECTION: VOLUME 2, from Warner Home Video, has six of Miss Day’s earliest and most palatable musical romances. Five were filmed in a square TV ratio, while the sixth is in CinemaScope. And five are in brand-new Technicolor, while a sixth is in B&W.

ROMANCE ON THE HIGH SEAS (1948) –Doris’ feature film debut is in eye-blinding Technicolor and status on a Caribbean wing with improper identity. Georgia Garrett (Doris) poses as Mrs. Elvira Kent on the ship, while the exact Elvira (Janis Paige) stays home to leer on her maybe philandering husband. Georgia is wooed by Jack Carson, while Mr. Kent (Don DeFore) hires someone to survey on the dependable Elvira, who is presumably on the same ship but isn’t. Oscar Levant is fabulous. Michael Curtiz directed a witty script by the Epstein Brothers and I.A.L. Diamond. Cameos include Franklin Pangborn and Grady Sutton. Jule Styne and Sammy Cahn songs include the classic “It’s Magic”. It must have been a hit even in 1948 because it is sung three times. This is an absolutely extraordinary movie. Bonuses include a theatrical trailer, a musical short, and a Tweety & Sylvester short.

MY DREAM IS YOURS (1949) –Michael Curtiz directs again and Jack Carson (Doug Blake) again is the romantic male lead for Doris as singer Martha Gibson. When arrogant singing star Lee Bowman acts like a prima donna one too many times, Doug fires him and becomes agent to Martha, who becomes a common and likeable radio singer. Unbelievable supporting cast of pros includes S. Z. Sakall, Eve Arden, and Adolphe Menjou, with cameos by Franklin Pangborn, Edgar Kennedy, and Bugs Bunny! Harry Warren and Sammy Cahn songs include “My Dream is Yours” and “Someone Like You.” This is another sparkling Technicolor production. Bonuses include an Oscar-nominated drama short, a Joe McDoakes comedy short, a classic cartoon, and a theatrical trailer.

I’LL Recognize YOU IN MY DREAMS (1952) caught me off-guard because it is one of Doris Day’s few B&W movies. Smooth, it is photographed by Ted McCord, whose credits range from Fancy OF THE SIERRA MADRE (1948) to THE SOUND OF MUSIC (1965) . We have Danny Thomas as song writer Gus Kahn, who apparently wrote the lyrics to literally hundreds of well-liked songs in the first few decades of the 20th Century, several dozen with girl friend turned wife Grace (Doris) . Among the Kahn favorites are the title song, “I Wish I Had a Girl,” “Treasure Me or Leave Me” (which Doris would again philosophize in the 1955 biographical musical drama), “Makin’ Whoopee,” “Radiant Baby,” and “It Had to Be You.” It’s an enchanting and tuneful biography, again directed by Michael Curtiz. The two stars are well matched. DVD bonuses include an unusually insightful drama short called “The Mask Director”, a hilarious Foghorn Leghorn cartoon, and the theatrical trailer.

ON MOONLIGHT BAY (1951) and its sequel, BY THE LIGHT OF THE SILVERY MOON (1952), are Technicolor gems about exiguous town Indiana life on either side of World War One. They are inspired by the “Penrod” stories of Booth Tarkington. Doris Day and a very young Gordon MacRae star as a romantic couple; he spends two movies trying to determine if he wants to rep married, which is wild because (1) Doris is a trusty sweetheart of a person even as a “grease monkey” and tomboy, and (2) he proposes and kisses her passionately in the street at the extinguish of BAY. Leon Ames plays her father, virtually the same role he played in MEET ME IN ST. LOUIS (1944) ; Rosemary DeCamp from YANKEE DOODLE DANDY (1942) is Mom; Billy Gray is Day’s pesty kid brother; and Mary Wickes is the cook who never met a tray of food she liked. The color is fall tiring, gorgeous; the directors are, respectively, Roy Del Ruth and David Butler, very competent craftsman filmmakers. Songs in BAY include “Cuddle Up a Microscopic Closer,” “It’s a Long Device to Tipperary” and “Pack Up Your Troubles.” and the title song as the film’s finale. Full-fledged musical numbers in SILVERY MOON include “Ain’t We Got Fun,” “King Chanticleer”, and the title song with ice skates on Miller’s Pond. Bonuses with BAY are a vintage sing-a-long short, a Technicolor cartoon, and the theatrical trailer. SILVERY MOON bonuses include two fabulous Joe McDoakes comedy shorts, an Oscar-nominated cartoon, and the theatrical trailer.

One of Doris Day’s first films in CinemaScope, LUCKY ME (1955) has her as a superstitious woman named Candy Williams. The unluckiest day of Candy’s life turns out to be the luckiest through twists of fate. Also starring with Miss Day are Robert Cummings, Phil Silvers, Eddie Foy Jr. and Nancy Walker. Shining musical numbers include “High Hopes,” “I Order to the Stars,” “I Wanna Squawk Like an Angel,” and half a dozen more. It’s a very glad and lustrous Technicolor and wide-screen concoction with a remastered soundtrack. Bonuses include the nostalgic short “When the Talkies Were Young”, an Oscar-nominated cartoon, and the theatrical trailer.

There is also a Volume One, of course. It includes such unbelievable Doris Day musical classics as THE PAJAMA GAME, CALAMITY JANE, Worship ME OR LEAVE ME, BILLY ROSE’S JUMBO, PLEASE DON”T EAT THE DAISIES, and three more slightly lesser Day movies. If you like the Doris Day movies in Volume Two, do check out Volume One.

Mario Bava was one of the most underrated filmmakers of the 20th century. So it’s appropriate that the first volume of the “Mario Bava Collection” (or “Bava Box”) was one of the best releases of the last year, and reintroduced us to classics of Bava’s that had fallen out of thought. The second volume unbiased continues that tradition, with grand chunks of classic, stylish alarm.

Buy,Download, Or Stream The Bava Box Set, Vol. 2! Click Here

“Baron Blood” begins the collection — Baron Otto Van Kleist was a savage, nasty guy who liked to torture people for fun (contemplate Vlad Tepes), until a witch’s curse build him out of commission. Centuries later, his descendent Peter (Antonio Cantafora) returns to his family’s gothic castle, and decides that he and visiting student Eva (Elke Sommer) will recite the incantation that will return “Baron Blood” to the world. Of course, he actually DOES return, and soon Peter, Eva and Peter’s uncle are forced to battle his psychotic, deformed ancestor.

“Lisa and the Devil” is more or less what it sounds like, with our heroine Lisa (Elke Sommer) a tourist going through Italy. She encounters some freaky folklore spellbinding a local painting of the Devil and the Insensible — and a man (Telly Savalas) who eerily resembles the painted Satan. When her recede group is invited by the man to halt at a spooky villa, Lisa becomes ensnared in a maze of nightmares and death.

Then we bag something that ISN’T gothic terror — “Roy Colt and Winchester Jack,” a comedy-western. Failed outlaw Roy Colt (Brett Halsey) has decided to become a law-abiding sheriff — until he learns of a appreciate draw to buried gold. Of course, he scurries after it — but to gain his hands on it, he’ll have to beat out an Indian prostitute, a dynamiting Russian Reverand, and his faded partner Winchester Jack (Charles Southwood) .

Then it’s “Four Times That Night,” a colourful, campy steal on Akira Kurosawa’s”Rashomon.” Suave Gianni (Brett Halsey) starts pursuing terrorized, chaste Tina (Daniela Giordano), until she agrees to date him. The night ends with his face scratched and her dress shredded — at first perceive, you’d mediate he impartial got too grabby, and she fought him off. But there are four different versions of what happened that night, and none of them agree…

Then it’s benefit to gore and dread, with one of the very first slasher flicks. “Bay Of Blood” opens with the death of a countess and her murdering husband. After their demise, the spot is crowded with real-estate agents, entomologists, secret heiresses and sex-mad teens looking for a space to party. Then, of course, they open dying off… and not honest from one person.

Finally we gain “Five Dolls For An August Moon,” a remake of Agatha Christie’s “Ten Tiny Indians”: Wealthy industrialist George Stark (Teodoro Corrà) gathers a group of friends and associates on his private island, trying to obtain a original formula from chemist Fritz Farrell (William Berger) . As the guests glean tangled in sexual and business intrigues, someone starts murdering them…

Unlike many directors, Mario Bava didn’t need massive budgets or CGI to make his shining movies — unbiased gracious actors and a haunting backdrop. Gothic castles with dungeons, misty forests, psychedelic islands and clubs, eerie villas, and the hazardous streets of Italy are all faded here, and performances that range from quick-witted (Steele) to merely top-notch (Halsey) .

In fact, Bava was such a luminous director that he remove a cliche or subpar movie (such as “Baron Blood”), and turn it into something unusual and deep. He made utilize of misty lighting, eerie camerawork, fine utilize of light and shadow, gory deaths and unusual symbolism. A few also splash in some psychedelic colour and sex. And he was usually able to work in an unexpected, sometimes homely twist to each movie’s ending.

“Mario Bava Collection Volume 2″ is a collection of five great movies, ranging from bright to luscious. And it’s a kindly demonstration of Bava’s talents, and the kinds of movies he could undertake — a esteem for terror buffs.

Having fair picked this up, I conception I’d chime in with this second box dwelling from Anchor Bay. While the comparison will seem weird, Like Orson Welles, and this is speaking from public perception, Mario Bava’s debut film, ‘Black Sunday’, was so impressive that many of his subsequent releases were dismissed as sub par or viewed as schlock. Of course, many of these critics overlooked the consistent artistry that could be found throughout Bava’s filmography.

While Volume 1 focused on a number of his most iconic and eminent films from the early to mid sixties, Volume 2 focus’ on his leisurely 60s til mid 70s output, to qualified attain I might add. His film, ‘Four Times That Night’ (1968), is a sex comedy with a Rashomon flavored theme. A collected mannered man, and a seemingly virtuous woman have a date, which leads to the kind of mishap that triggers three wildly different perspectives, from the man, woman and a spectator. It’s very grand a film of the tedious sixties, fun, satisfactory film, but not large. A graceful part of nudity and sexual bid, which makes it not accessible for minors, heavenly warning.

’5 Dolls For an August Moon’ (1970) features several impressive visual sequences and succeeds due to some colossal art direction. A young scientist with an industrial formula to sell, has invited a group of rich industrialist to a runt island, along with their wives or lovers. Everyone has a range of motives when the guests and scientist open to be killed off. This even has elements of a eye thriller, via ‘Diabolik’ at distinct moments. Apparently this film has divided critics of Bava. It’s a exquisite fine attempt at a non occult thriller.

Bava has been so tied to his reputation as a director of apprehension pictures, people tend to not realize he was varied enough to work in the Western genre, as well as sword and sandal Viking pictures, which makes ‘Roy Colt and Winchester Jack’ (1970) a fun recount. A satirical Western with an affectionate nod to Sergio Leone, a pair of good-natured outlaws on a hunt for a fortune in gold. While not a masterpiece, it demonstrates that Bava could work in the Western genre with a twist. Having said that, it’s basically cashing in on the success of ‘Butch Cassidy & The Sundance Kid’.

Next up, ‘Bay of Blood’ (1971) a.k.a. ‘Twitch of the Death Nerve’. One of the seminal films in the development of the slasher panic genre. Powerful has been written already about the ways in which Sean Cunningham and Miner borrowed from this film in the making of the first two ‘Friday the 13th’ films. Bava’s film is not for the faint of heart, yet unlike the FT13 films, there’s a plausible motive tedious most of the killings, the greed of a family inheritance. Feminist film critics will often dismiss Bava for being a misogynist, yet often in Bava’s pictures women are impartial as proper to commit execute as men, aside from the fact that Bava shows a right reverence towards women, as complicated souls with desires. Some have dismissed this film and yet, unlike many slasher films where there’s a still focus on the spectacle of violence, one is left not comfortable with the carnage. There’s a murky, fatalistic, ironic notion and subtext here about how violence feeds on itself, as well as an ecological theme that is highly skeptical for the need for humanity.

For most Bava fan’s, ‘Baron Blood’ (1972) has remained a well-liked, featuring a sterling and menacing performance from Joseph Cotton as the resurrected Baron. Elke Sommer’s performance isn’t as memorable as her role in ‘Lisa’, which we’ll fetch to in a moment. Bava has always excelled at producing Gothic fright and he delivers this film with a lot of flare. The novel relative of Otto von Kleist, the wrong Baron of the 16th Century, inadvertently resurrects the Baron from the archaic spell of a witch he burned at the stake. Cotton manages a ample, menacing and slightly off performance until the revelation of his character.

The less that’s said about ‘The House of Exorcism’, the better, in spite of the fact that Lamberto Bava assisted with the re-shoots. ‘Lisa and The Devil’ (1973) is another matter. Lisa, a tourist, sees a fresco of the devil leading away the wearisome, and this triggers her into a Labyrinth of a shaded myth. Is this her fevered imagination? Is she being lured by the devil? Is she the resurrected spirit of a lover from another era? ‘Lisa’ is Bava’s most surreal, cryptic and layered film as well as shapely. Telly Savalas is improbable as a charming, sophisticated and ruthless beelzebubb. Elke Sommer delivers a compelling performance. A positive demolish from the usual supernatural film.

‘Rabid Dogs’ (1974) a.k.a. ‘Kidnapped’, would have been the definitive final statement from Bava had it seen a profitable release. Sadly, when the film’s financier died, his entire estate as well as the print of the film was seized by the Italian Court. A marked stylistic incompatibility from Bava’s other work, a gritty Euro-Crime drama. During a botched payroll heist, a trio of criminals hijack a woman and a man who is driving a sick child to a hospital. The degradation of the woman is probably one of the most disturbing aspects. A very gritty film that one could look as a sincere inspiration for a director like Tarantino.

This second space is a petite more thin in the extras. Unlike the special segments produced for the ‘Black Sunday, Girl Who Knew Too Much’, and ‘Black Sabbath’. The only novel special segments added are from ‘Kidnapped’, and that disc was already released as a separate package. Considering, that I acquire at this writing, Elke Sommer is tranquil alive, I’m surprised that no recent interviews were conducted for her reflections about working on ‘Baron Blood’ or ‘Lisa’. There are recent commentaries from Bava expert, Tim Lucas for ‘Lisa and the Devil, Baron Blood’ and ‘Bay of Blood’, all wonderful, the commentary for ‘Bay of Blood’ is a cramped looser for a Lucas commentary. An additional older commentary of ‘Lisa’ with Elke Sommer and Alfredo Leone is included. All of the film prints are top-notch and presented in the usual widescreen ratios of 1.85:1 or 1.78:1. The films ’5 Dolls’ and ‘Four Times’ are included on a duel disc. Many of the films include trailers, radio spots, or Poster and collected galleries. Unfortunately, there’s no production liner notes in any of the sets or updated biographies. Thus, the reason for the rating.

Hopefully, this will do well enough to give Anchor Bay grounds to release more titles. Pardon the length, Bava’s work is frequently unforgettable, aesthetic, macabre, disturbing and current, don’t miss this.

The second collection of Gundam Seed picks up where the first left off. It takes the series and characters to a current level. I couldn’t close watching these two collections and I watched Gundam Seed Destiny Anime Legends, Vol. 1 in less than 4 days because of how exciting the characters and universe are. If you are a fan of Gundam, I aid you to sight how this astounding series has grown in the modern millenium.

I do NOT give away 4 star ratings lightly (unlike some of my fellow Anime “lovers”) .

This 2nd installment in Gundam Seed was better than the first (call me dense, but “Complete Collection, piece II” is an oxymoron… but with this powerful assert, I’ll forgive the misnomer) in every arrangement.

NON Spoiler (again, unlike my fellow reviewers) review:

“What is it you occupy in? What are you fighting for? Is it that medal? Or your fathers orders? ”

For this 2nd section of the myth, the drama intensifies, the good horrors of war are even more revealed and the characters (some of whom, may have appeared to be funny relief or ogle candy…such as the person who uttered the above quote) become more complex, more grown up, more of a player than we were led to own.

The “Giant Uber Weapon Dispensing Machine” is in plump production as both sides insist their secret weapon(s) (mobile suit and otherwise) in a bunch of “AHA!” moments. It gets a miniature worthy, but does add to the suspense.

This is a “cartoon” but is not for children. People are shot, bloody, chopped in half, blow up in the horrors of situation (vacuum) combat and die in briefly violent ways. I’d rate it PG13.

The music is over all passable, but with flashes of particular greatness. The Music video alone on this place is worth watching again and again, “Have” by Nami Tamaki. I’m listening accurate now and getting goosebumps. And this other particular song was beautifully haunting (and imho, under musty) [EDIT - link to Youtube video deleted by Amazon. Search on Youtube for Akatsuki no kuruma by FictionJunction and you'll salvage it...]

The character development, the position twists, the music, the epic, the hard edge, all were brought together in a very satisfying intention. Its not perfect, but its terminate. Ironically, my biggest turn off is the cartoonish Gundams. Giant humanoid fighting machines have only the barest of military justifications, painting them in clown colors impartial makes it worse. Robotech (Macross in particular) had remarkable more realistic looking Mechs (Gundams, whatever) and that was 25 years ago. This grown up memoir with its tight production is genuine of a more grown up form of weaponry.

It is a curious mix. On the one hand, you eye the horrors of war, the loss of your friends, coming face to face with those who loved the people you killed, the treatment of Prisoners of War, civilian casualties. Then another well choreographed battle that draws you into the action, but shouldn’t I feel guilty now for enjoying it?

Guilty or not, I completely enjoyed Gundam Seed.

Himura Kenshin – otherwise know as the “hitokiri batousai” was a professional assassin during the war that brought forth the Meiji era in Japan. Reach the slay of the war he disappeared. Kenshin became a “rurouni” (wanderer), using a “sakaba tou” (reverse-edged blade) to protect people. The series starts 11 years after the inaugurate of the Meiji period in Japan and traces Kenshin’s adventures from there.

The series is historically honest in many aspects :) . I absolutely fell in worship with this series – a amazing space that ties episode to episode together. You can not earn better plots than this. I don’t wish to give it away but it is certainly not a series aimed at children; it contains powerful politics concerning the building of the recent government and great unsuitable done during the war to set the fresh government, extraordinary fights (descriptions of determined moves & weapons in fights are sincere and proper :) ) and unbelievable characters. There are many lighthearted & laughable moments but in a arrangement that fits in with the yarn and the characters. Again, situation is astounding in this tale.

The characters are extremely well developed and the background music is absolutely astounding. The artwork is also wonderful.

Specific to episodes 5 – 8. At this point some of the main characters are serene being introduced but by no means monotonous introductions. The middle two episodes is a titanic diminutive narrative with amazing fight scenes which makes a very distinguished point.

That said. I do hope you try it out. I do not judge you can be disappointed :) .

This is a long anime series, and at first it may seem to hotfoot somewhat. The early episodes are intended to introduce and build the main cast of characters, to prove them at their best, to allow the viewer to advance to know them well. The stories told in episodes 1-27 (the first season) of the series are fairly simple, though fairly well-written. It is obvious at all times that Kenshin and his friends are the “top-notch guys,” and that the people they’re up against (bandits, pirates, terrorists, the like) are the dreadful guys, in almost all of these episodes. There are a few exceptions, but only a very few. It is with the second season that the tale really becomes engaging, even riveting, as the series becomes more concerned with historical Japan. The stories become powerful more complex, with the lines between proper and atrocious blurring and becoming nonexistent. This saga, the Kyoto Saga, is the best of Rurouni Kenshin, and the yarn which makes the series worthwhile. The main reason to peek these early episodes is for knowledge of the characters, their backgrounds, their stories, and their motivations, by the time the Kyoto Saga comes around. If you’ve already started the series, and are wondering what all the fuss is about, because the memoir isn’t as entertaining as you’ve heard, you’ve probably heard about the Kyoto Saga. Hang in there, it’ll be worth it. In other words, the early episodes are worth buying as a fragment of the series, even though they’re nothing spectacular on their acquire. The reason I give this 4 stars instead of 3 is simple: this is an noble example of superior translation work. If you’re considering not bothering with the pro translations, and sticking with the fansubs, let me sing you, as someone who’s watched the entire series fansubbed, you’re making a mistake. This translation gives original quality to this series. Thank you to all those keen with the translation; you have preserved the beauty of the language veteran in the series, no easy task.

Get this position and acquire the Power!!!!

“He-Man and the Masters of the Universe” debuted when I was 11 years customary. I remember practically running home from school each day so as not to miss a single word. I absolutely loved the daily dose of action in Eternia, and then applying ideas gleaned from the note to playing with my action figures.

Even now at 33 years feeble, I peaceful pick up these cartoons to be highly delectable. They bring succor a lot of fond memories, and the morals taught in them collected absorb fair today. They’ve held up over time and can be enjoyed by today’s children too.

This collection of the second half of the first season contains one of my approved episodes, “The House of Shokoti”. It was the series’ only two-parter that I can lift. Ram Man’s continual butchering of Shokoti’s name, with her finally shouting at him “Shokoti, you fool!” was priceless. The episode also contained a character simply referred to as “Camouflage” who never saw a plastic rendition, grand to my chagrin. He perished at the raze of the first half though, so that is probably why. He was peaceful an awesome foe who would have been a welcome addition to my figure lineup.

Among the special features contained in this box space, “Commercial Spots” is mentioned. I can only hope that means the small blurbs before and after the commercial breaks featuring Orko. Remember those? There were at least four of them that I can rob. Orko’s head bursting through an orange field saying He-Man would be apt support, then a sad-eyed Orko repairing the hole he had made with tape. Also, Orko expeditiously whipping off-screen so expeditiously he lost his hat and camouflage, then his bare arms reaching befriend on-screen to grab them. Plus, Orko spinning in from the distance like a tornado, saying his message, then spinning serve off into the distance in the same tornado-like fashion. One other one was Orko working his magic with the itsy-bitsy sparkles. While I’m gratified that they are not included in each episode on the DVD’s, I peaceful was hoping for the opportunity to give them another contemplate in a supplemental part. Hopefully they ARE contained here as the item referred to as “Commercial Spots”. I don’t know for clear.

With all the episodes this space contains, as well as the wealth of bonus materials, this would be a mountainous remove for anyone wanting something piquant and bewitching for their children to notice, or for a child of the 80′s like me who enjoys re-living a allotment of his or her childhood.

Episode One- An exhibition of old-fashioned Egyptian relics comes to the British Museum and an anomaly opens in a mysterious monument called the `Sun Cage’. A Pristichampsus, believed in Musty Egypt to be the demon Ammut, emerges and proceeds to wreak havoc in London. Cutter, Abby, and fresh head of security Captain Becker pursue it through the city while Connor and unusual recruit, the Egyptologist, Sarah Page try to block off the anomaly and prevent more Pristichampsus from coming through. Meanwhile, Lester encounters a modern adversary: the ambitious Christine Johnson.

Episode Two- Three teenage boys crash into a house and a Future Gremlin attacks them. Only one boy manages to dash. He sends Connor, Abby and Jenny to investigate but the three have a run-in with the creature and PC Danny Quinn, who is trying to bag out who murdered his brother.

Episode Three- An anomaly opens in a London hospital, causing several Diictodon to emerge. They promptly chew through the power cables cutting the power to the building. Cutter, Abby, Connor and Becker advance to investigate as does journalist Mick Harper, who wants to find evidence of the creatures to present to the public. Meanwhile, Helen, “The Cleaner” and their clone of Cutter infiltrate the ARC so that they can ask the staunch Cutter about the mysterious artifact. When the loyal Cutter returns Helen confronts him, informing him that she has to terminate the ARC’s research from destroying the world at any cost…even if it means killing her husband.

Episode Four- Mick Harper steals an anomaly detector from Jenny’s car and uses it to track down an anomaly at an airport, bringing Nigel Marven with him to identify the creature, yet when a Giganotosaurus comes through the anomaly, the team has to not only finish the dinosaur destroying an airport and a Boeing 747, but also halt the journalists from broadcasting its existence to the world. Luckily for the team, they have unexpected assistance from Danny Quinn, who manages to lure the creature relieve to its gain time.

Guest appearance by Nigel Marven

Episode Five- Danny Quinn is drafted in to back the team when a fast-growing flesh-eating fungus from the future is transferred to the prove by a businessman’s assistant, who in turn passes the spores onto his employer, Sir Richard Bently. Bently slowly turns into a Fungus Creature as a result. The team manages to bring the creature serve to the ARC, where Jenny is trapped in the main control room with it and forced to fight for her life. After her new discovery of Cutter’s describe of Claudia Brown and her near-death experience, Jenny decides that she’s had enough: she resigns from her job at the ARC, leaving the team in Danny’s hands.

Episode Six- When the ARC is taken over by Christine Johnson and the military in search of the artifact, Danny and the team flit to a safehouse in the woods: in truth, an ragged cabin that has been abandoned since the 1930s. With no technology or weapons but their gain resourcefulness, the team not only have to defend themselves from Johnson’s soldiers, but also a pack of carnivorous Dread Birds that emerge from a nearby anomaly.

Episode Seven- A Dracorex comes through an anomaly, trying to run from a 14th century knight who believes he is hunting a dragon. The team are forced to net and place the life of the Dracorex, and return the confused knight to his possess world before he kills anyone, out of conception they are demons.

Episode Eight- An anomaly opens at a speed car test track and a Megopteran, a insect from the future, comes through. It is carnivorous and lethal, and the team must method on all their resources to score it support to its home. However, things accept complicated when Jack decides to score out what his sister Abby really does for a living, and inadvertently drives through an anomaly into a future world inhabited by future predators. The team must now design a hazardous search mission to the future to rescue Jack, then run with their lives.

Episode Nine- The team have to deal with a herd of Embolotherium from the Eocene. Danny arrives with a mysterious woman called Eve who he first saw in the Future; having rescued her from Christine Johnson, they endeavour to put everyone from the stampede. Upon their return to the ARC, the team are stupefied to explore that Eve is Helen Cutter in disguise, who takes Johnson hostage. Holding her at gunpoint, Helen steals the artifact and vows once again to close the ARC’s research destroying the world. Helen then leaves Johnson in the future, where she is torn apart by a future predator, and makes her dash. The team determine they must fetch and terminate Helen before more people die as a result of her actions.

Episode Ten- Danny, Abby and Connor recede to the future in pursuit of Helen while Sarah and Captain Becker try to evade Megopterans rampaging through Johnson’s dilapidated headquarters. Meanwhile, the trio perceive Helen plans to prevent the evolution of humanity in order to do the world, resulting in a bolt across Cretaceous North America and into Pliocene Africa. Danny confronts Helen at the spot of the human ancestor, Australopithecus, only to rep she has poisoned a slight number already. A Deinonychus that followed Danny through the anomaly charges at Helen and knocks her off a cliff, killing them both. Danny then makes his arrangement benefit to the anomaly, only to have it terminate in front of him. Trapped in the past and separated from each other, will Danny, Abby and Connor ever find home?

This residence is worth the trace range of around $26.00-$29.00. The episodes are vast and the action and drama blends well with one another. If you liked the first two series of Primeval, then you will also luxuriate in this station! Primeval is a astronomical series, and I can’t wait for the movie adaptation!

So, my advice, capture this area! It’s worth every penny!

Handsome Male Lead: Danny Quinn, you are doing it inappropriate.

Sorry, but Primeval without Stephen was awful enough, but Primeval without Crop? No, not chilly. Very powerful not frigid. We stuck around until the cliffhanger destroy, the very annoying cliffhanger ending since the note has been cancelled and will possibly be sold to America to be completely re-done, but once Dougie was no longer the loveable Chop Cutter the reveal took a very grand nose dive. If you already like Primeval, you’re going to seize this up regardless, but fresh people, be warned: this point to has a habit of killing the people you savor, or even like, and it certainly doesn’t halt in this season. Not by a long shot.
