2 episodes of Lynch’s absurd and silly online serial, “Out Yonder.” For those who are not yet familiar, an episode of “Yonder” is included on DYNAMIC 01: THE BEST OF DAVIDLYNCH.COM. Check it out.
4 absurd episodes of INLAND EMPIRE-related “Rabbits”. These were also originally available on Davidlynch.com, although they can no longer be seen there. Btw, there is a sort of secret to making sense out of what the Rabbits are actually saying to each other – can you figure out what it is? If not, these shows are mild a blast to notice.
A 20 dinky montage of experimental work from early in Lynch’s career, when he was working on “The Alphabet” and “The Grandmother” (both of which are included here in THE SHORT FILMS OF DAVID LYNCH disc) . Deleted footage from both of these films are allotment of the montage.
A brief, dream-like, and disturbing early film called “Absurd Encounter with Panic”. This one’s a personal well-liked – deem David Lynch meets DAWN OF THE Dumb.
Another bizarre short work called “Imaginary Anacin Commercial.” As with “Absurd Encounter”, “Anacin” calls to mind Lynch’s early short work like “The Alphabet” and “The Grandmother.”
A trio of fun and highly imaginative short films that Lynch exclusively screened at a trio of festivals (Cannes, Hollyshorts, and Twin Peaks) . Two of them are actually more fun to gape backwards on slow-reverse. You’ll glance what I mean…
A cheap music video of Lynch and Badalamenti’s “A Right Indication” from the TWIN PEAKS: FIRE Scuttle WITH ME soundtrack. Immense song, abominable video.
So, that’s the Mystery Disc – a flood of mostly tall stuff for the correct Lynchophile.
A couple other things you might want to know about the LIME GREEN SET:
The ELEPHANT MAN bonus disc is comprised of three beneficial interviews, one of which is a fresh interview with Lynch that is both inspiring and revealing. The disc isn’t very long, but it is satisfyingly substantive.
There are a number of fun and easy-to-find easter eggs on the BLUE VELVET disc.
The INDUSTRIAL SYMPHONY 1 disc comes with a mammoth shrimp documentary featuring outmoded interviews with Lynch, Badalamenti, and Skim. I mention this because I don’t beleive that the modern VHS release had this extra material.
OK, that’s it…indulge in!
If you’re a cinephile who is either honest getting into Lynch or would like to, then this region would be a immense engage. It’s got four of his older masterpieces: Eraserhead, The Elephant Man, Blue Velvet, and Wild at Heart. If you don’t have these already, then this is a grand select with enough stout extras to explain the heed label. And trust me – this is five-star material. David Lynch is one of the greatest artists in American cinema, and any film aficionado should familiarize themselves with his work.
Unless you’re rolling in money, though, this residence honest isn’t worth the cash for people like me who have already seen these four movies. I’m lucky enough to have a very well-stocked local library which already has the Lime Green Area, so I was able to check it out without plunking down the money. I already maintain copies of the four major films in this site as well as the “Short Films” DVD.
This station really does have some very nice extras that were never previously released. The recent deluxe editions of “The Elephant Man” and “Wild at Heart” are improbable, as is the brand-new 5.1 sound mix on this edition of “Blue Velvet.” One reviewer already went through the contents of the mystery disc in thorough detail, so I won’t bother to expose it. “Industrial Symphony No. 1″ was very provocative to ogle. I had never previously seen “Dumbland,” and while it’s hardly Lynch’s best work, it certainly does believe his absurd sense of humor and is worth checking out.
Bells and whistles aside, it’s unprejudiced not worth the impress price if you’ve already got the main four films. If you don’t have it already, I would recommend picking up the “Short Films of David Lynch” DVD, as there is some very bright material on that. That’ll only cost you $20, though, and the rest of the extras, while very nice, are unbiased padding.
In conclusion – if you don’t have the four movies, buy it up. If you do, either rent it, check it out of a library if yours has it, or objective wait a year or two for the brand to tumble to something a diminutive more reasonable. However I will say that besides the Eraserhead disc, which is identical, these are the best releases yet of each of the films included.
